Police said Muslim warriors staged a grenade attack on a police patrol in Baramulla, 50 km (31 miles) north of the state summer capital Srinagar, injuring three policemen and 15 civilians.
Mujahedin also staged a similar attack on a tightly-guarded army camp in Srinagar, injuring two women.
In a separate attack, the Muslims also gunned down two policemen in a nearby Srinagar locality.
All the trouble spots were cordoned off and troops were conducting searches to identify the attackers, witnesses said. There were no claims of responsibility but police said they suspected the mujahedin, who are fighting to end Indian rule in Kashmir. More than 25,000 people have died in the decade-long jihad in Kashmir.
