Nearly 2 Million Pray Jum'a
In Islam's Holy Sites
Nearly one-and-a-half million Muslims flocked to pray in the Saudi cities of Mecca and Medina Friday, the no. 1 and no. 2 holiest sites in Islam. In Islam's no. 3 holy site, Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, some 360,000 worshippers flocked to Jum'a.


Pakistan's sickly economy faces dramatic changes that could isolate it from world lenders after a court decision ordering a more Islamic financial system, analysts said Friday. Pakistan's Supreme Court declared the charging of interest on loans un-Islamic and ordered the government to set up an interest-free economy by 2001 in a ruling Thursday.
