Peace Motorcycle From Afghanistan To Geneva

by Mohamad Nasseri

TEHRAN (Islam Online) - In an effort to send a message of peace to the world and gain international aid to their country, a group of Afghani students who graduated from Iranian universities started a motorcycle trip from the Afghani border to Geneva, Switzerland.

"We hope we can put some light on the Afghani crisis which overshadowed the great role played by Afghanistan once in the human civilization," said Nabi Khalil, one of the participants.

If Iran's president is adopting a dialogue focused on civilization, he should first look at Iran's close neighbor which had a great civilization based on concern and compassion before looking at other civilizations, he added.

Analysts said that this is one of a long series of efforts on the part of Afghanis to obtain more aid for their devastated country.

Despite severe drought, fighting continues between the Taliban and their opposition.

The Taliban initiated an attack on the northeastern parts of the country, and overtook one of the opposition's centers in Talikan recently.

U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan said it was unclear whether the attack would put an end to the war which is just one of numerous domestic wars in the country over the past 20 years.

Six neighboring countries, and the U.S. and Russia asked Annan to prepare a report on the conflict after communicating with all of the clashing parties.
