Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Meets Muslim Americans

WASHINGTON (Islam Online & News Agencies) - Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Abdullah met with Muslim Americans in New York on Thursday and where he urged Yasser Arafat and the Palestinians not to back down on Jerusalem.

Many in the group of several dozen people from several Muslim American and Arab American organizations attending the session applauded his comments on the sensitive issue of East Jerusalem, which was captured by Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

Crown Prince Abdullah said, "there is nothing to negotiate about and compromise on when it comes to Jerusalem."

"Jerusalem is important to the hearts of all Muslims and in fact it's in the heart of everybody with a sense of humanity. This is something on which there can be no compromise," Abdullah continued.

Abdurahman Alamoudi of the American Muslim Council thanked Abdullah, commenting, "We appreciate the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's strong position on Jerusalem"

Abdullah responded, "Jerusalem is the duty of every Muslim, every Arab and every human being. We will never let Jerusalem down and we are working with our Palestinian brothers toward securing Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state."

The Crown Prince also spoke out against terrorism and reiterated that Islam does not advocate terrorist activity.

Saudi Arabia is considered as one of the United States' best allies in the region and Abdullah has been running Saudi affairs since King Fahd suffered a stroke in 1995.

Abdullah was in New York attending the U.N. Millennium Summit.
