WASHINGTON (Islam Online) - The annual Islamic Society of North America’s (ISNA) convention opens today in Chicago, attracting approximately 19,000 to 20,000 Muslims across the country to participate in a sort of ISNA Labor Day weekend ritual of meeting of the American Islamic community. ISNA is an advocate community development organization serving the needs of American Muslims and Islamic institutions in North America. With its headquarters in greater Indianapolis, Indiana, ISNA has more than three hundred community and professional organizations affiliated with it. The convention will feature conferences and seminars focusing on various aspects of Muslims living in America, ranging from focusing on Islam in America to Islam in American prisons to Islamic banking and Muslims and the information super highway. Islam Online is attending the conference and will provide both news and webcasts from Chicago during the duration of the conference for Internet visitors.
