RIYADH (News Agencies) - King Fahd of Saudi Arabia declared on Saturday that holding an Arab summit is essential to tighten the Arab relations in order to serve Arab causes. In an interview to the Saudi AlWattan newspaper, he called on Iraq to comply with all Security Council resolutions in order that the Iraqi people regain their status among Arab and Islamic nations. The new newspaper published the interview in its first issue. Fahd said Israel would be fooling itself if its officials think they can marginalize the Palestinians right to have an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. When asked about the human rights' status in his country, the Saudi monarch said Islam has set clear guidelines for human rights within the Shariah, which the country uses as its guiding laws, to demonstrate these guidelines. Saudi Arabia has come under fire lately from Amnesty International and other human rights organizations because of its poor record on the issue. |
