Amid Tight Security Protesters Demonstrate IMF, World Bank Meeting

Protesters shouting anti-globalization slogans marched in the nation's capital, trying to disrupt international financial meetings. Despite their efforts, they failed to stop IMF’s main policy making committee from meeting. Delegates were rejuvenated knowing there was extraordinary protection, as early sessions got under way.


Many members of the United States Congress have expressed their apprehension that Indian security might have been involved in the brutal massacre of 35 Sikhs in Chattisinghpora on the eve of the U.S. President’s official visit to India March 20.

G77 Summit Condemns IMF, World Bank Policy

The Group of 77, an organization of underdeveloped countries that represents about 80 percent of the world's population, ended its summit in Havana over the weekend and has vehemently criticized the IMF and World Bank policies towards developing nations.
