Baltimore’s Standoff As Palczynski Fires Shots

By Ali Abdullahi

WASHINGTON, Baltimore (Islam Online)-As police were trying to negotiate with the hostage taker, shots have been fired from the house in Baltimore where, Palczynski accused of killing 4 people after kidnapping his girlfriend has been holding at least 3 hostages since Friday. Police did not return fire, and no one outside the house was injured.

Mr. Palcznski who has a disorder referred to as manic depression, which causes him extreme mood swings, has been talking on a telephone throughout Saturday night with a psychiatrist who is trying to convince him to release his hostages.

Sources said Mr. Palczynski was in a similar situation before. In 1992, he kept police in the state of Idaho at bay for 16 hours following a domestic violence complaint by a girlfriend. He was finally forced out with tear gas

And since March 7, Mr. Palczynski has been on the run when police say he kidnapped his girlfriend, killed the couple she was staying with and a neighbor. A fourth person was killed the next day by a stray bullet as Palczynski allegedly carjacked another vehicle, a police source revealed.
