SOFIA, Dec 16 (AFP) - Bulgarian schools will begin offering courses on Islam next year in areas where Muslims form a strong minority, the education ministry said Thursday. The Turkish minority, which represents about 10 percent of the total population, is concentrated in northeastern and southern regions of the country, where optional classes in Turkish are already offered. Classes on the Bible have been available since 1997, where more than 85 percent of Bulgarians are Orthodox.
