Turkish Deputy Dies From A Heart Attack During Hajj

ANKARA, March 15 (AFP) - A Turkish deputy died Wednesday of a heart attack on Mt. Arafat near Mecca during the annual hajj, the news agency Anatolia reported.

Nizamettin Sevgili, 54, was a deputy from Siirt in the southeast and a member of the center-right Motherland Party, one of Turkey's three ruling coalition parties.

More than two million Muslims, including 75,000 Turks, prayed for forgiveness at the site of Prophet Mohammad's last sermon on Mt. Arafat, the high point of the hajj.

Three hospitals and 42 clinics have been set up on Mt. Arafat, where the temperature soared to 35 degrees Celsius (93 Fahrenheit).
