The head, put up by the Hizbullah movement, sits on top of a two-meter (six-feet) high brick pillar, and above it is a placard reading: "America is the mother of terrorism."
On the pillar itself is a picture of a large ear, with a Star of David, bearing the inscription: "The American Administration."
No attempt was made to prevent Hizbollah supporters from erecting the model in Sidon's central Star Square. As they went about their work, a policeman continued to direct the traffic all around.
Hizbullah, which spearheads efforts to force Israel to pull out of Lebanese territory, is regarded by Washington as a "terrorist organization."
On Friday the U.S. State Department accused Hizbullah of responsibility for the recent upsurge of tension in southern Lebanon, during which Israel bombarded Lebanese civilian infrastructure after five of its soldiers died in precision Hizbullah attacks.
