A recent report published by the Palestinian Ministry of Industry concluded a study that was conducted to examine the progress or recession of the industrial sector's role in the overall Palestinian economy for last year. The results were promising, for 1998 is said to be a year in which the industrial sector has recorded a very large jump, doubling its performance.
Western model of development has brought about enormous income disparity within the world population and devastated the environment to a point of major ecological threat. After all that disruption, human and ecological suffering, we hear some whispers about 'sustainable development', 'moral development' and 'integrated development'. How seriously should the Muslims look for alternatives to this form of development?
