Time To Unleash The Oil Weapon?
The current oil status in international markets was little expected. It was just recently that OPEC members experienced a great deal of worry and frustration over the undesired fall of oil prices. Main oil importers, like the United States, greatly benefited from the chaos caused by the sliding prices. Now the situation is reversing. This time, it is the U.S. that is the one experiencing a case of panic. OPEC members are out of the danger zone and back to the golden days. Even Iraq is trying to exploit these shifting circumstances to its benefit, creating unexpected alliances of interest and therefore angering the United States.
Trade has been intertwined within the roots of Islamic civilization ever since the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) first began the revelation of this Message in the deserts of Arabia in the 7th century. This basic economic system provided a peaceful medium through which Islam gained widespread acceptance in the vast reaches of the world, into regions extending far beyond the Arabian peninsula. Through commerce, Muslim merchants were able to convey the teachings of Islam not through preaching, but rather through everyday transactions with non-Muslims who consequently gained a better understanding of the religion and came to believe in it as the fundamental truth of existence.
