Kuala Lumpur--Indonesia stands to lose more than gain in the diplomatic relationship engaged with Israel. Several political and economic observers in Indonesia believe that Israel will eventually control the financial sector in Indonesia, thus subjugating the
huge Muslim nation to Zionist control. This danger can be averted if the Indonesian government takes heed of the reality of political and economic ties with Israel, a country involved in international terrorism and which strategies on economic destruction.
When newly elected Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid informed the media of his proposed policy and how his unique approaches would treat some of the Muslim country's many problems, very few knew or could have predicted that normalizing
relations with Israel was one of those approaches. It sounded strange and irrelevant to some and angered many others, but suddenly Wahid's proposed economic and therefore political ties with Israel made sense: Indonesia's quest for stronger relations with the United States led it to think that Israel is the place to start.
