Sectarianism In Pakistan: History & Solutions
Sectarian terrorism has once again been revisited in its worst form after a lull of almost two years. The phenomenon of sectarian killing was rampant through out the decade of 90's and became extremely bloody by 1995-96. In Punjab alone the sectarian killings were responsible for up to five hundred innocent people losing their lives on an annual basis. Once again there is a re-emergence of this dreadful phenomenon while a military government is in power, which speaks volumes of the state of law and order prevalent in the country.

Prosecution Seeks Death For Ex-PM Nawaz Sharif
Earlier this month Pakistan's ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to two life terms in jail for charges on terrorism and plane hi-jacking. After the verdict however, the Pakistani prosecutors have once again appealed against the two life-terms for former prime-minister Nawaz Sharif. Instead, they opined that on charges such as terrorism and hijacking, he should be given the maximum punishment and sought a death sentence!

Reformists Battered From All Sides
Supporters of Iran's reformist President Mohammad Khatami came under increasingly heavy attack Thursday as political tensions mounted in the country. Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei flayed pro-reform newspapers and a hardline court summoned Khatami aides for questioning, accusing them of making anti-Islamic statements at a recent conference in Berlin.
