Internet Watch: Virtual Suffering at RefugeeCamp.org

29/11/2000

Want to take a trip with your kids this Ramadhan?

We can recommend a trip that you can take with your entire family, and we can promise that it will be an extremely educational experience for all. Best of all, you won’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home.

This Ramadhan, help your children to understand the suffering that millions of people around the world are enduring by visiting www.Refugeecamp.org.

The humanitarian group, Doctors Without Borders, developed the site as a virtual version of a demonstration camp that was constructed in 1996.

The site consists of several unique features:

  • First person accounts of refugee life;
  • A look at the complex logistics of building refugee camps;
  • Documentation of camp conditions;
  • Powerful black and white photos.

The visit to Refugeecamp.org is an extremely worthwhile visit to make, particularly during Ramadhan. With nearly 7 out of 10 refugees in the world being Muslim, this site provides a window into the Ramadhan experience of many refugee families.
