CAIRO,
April 9 (IslamOnline.net) - It is not permissible for any Muslim to
accept or deal in any way with any foreign governor set up by the
Anglo-U.S. invading troops in post-war Iraq, Egypt’s Mufti Ahmad
Al-Tayyib said Wednesday, April 9.
“The
Anglo-U.S. aggression on Iraq is null and void since it is an aggression
on an independent and sovereign country. It is a flagrant violation of
international legitimacy because it left hundreds killed and thousands
of children and women wounded,” Tayyib told IslamOnline.net.
Citing
the Islamic rule “whatever is based on an unlawful grounds it is
unlawful,” the Egyptian Mufti said the anointment of any foreign ruler
on Iraq “is not permissible by Islam; therefore, it is not permissible
for any Muslim to deal with or accept such a ruler.”
For
his part, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Mohammed Sayeed Tantawi
reiterated that it was haram (not permissible) for nay Arab or Muslim
country to assist the U.S.-led troops in Iraq.
Sheikh
Tantawi also said that it was not also permissible for any Arab or
Muslim country to harness its territories for the use of the United
States or any other country to be as a launching pad for striking Iraq
or to provide logistical facilities to hem.
Tantawi
further urged the leader of all Arab and Muslim countries not to assist
the U.S.-led war on Iraq, asserting that this kind of support “is a
crime and a stigma on all Muslims.”
Al-Azhar
Al-Sharief’s Body of Islamic Researches called on all Arab and Muslims
all over the world to defend themselves and their religion and act in
unison in the face of colonialism.
