An
Israeli soldier of the Duvdevan elite unit sustained a wound to the
foot, said Israeli sources.
An
Israeli armored unit made an incursion late Saturday, October 26, into
the flashpoint southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, Palestinian security
sources and witnesses said.
Some
15 armored vehicles backed up by two helicopter gun ships penetrated
several hundred meters inside the town on the border with Egypt.
An
Israeli military spokesman confirmed to Agence France-Presse (AFP)
that an Israeli force was in the sector, without giving details.
Earlier
Saturday, a 14-year-old Palestinian boy died after being wounded by
Israeli gunfire in Rafah, Palestinian hospital sources said.
Two
other Palestinians, a 10-year-old boy and a 45-year-old man, were also
wounded by gunfire, they said.
The
14-year-old had been shot in the stomach as Israeli army bulldozers
were being operated in the sector, sources said.

An
Israeli army spokesman said soldiers had opened fire after a security
post was attacked in the town with homemade grenades and automatic
weapons.
Rafah,
which lies hard on the border with Egypt, is alleged by Israel to be a
major smuggling route for weapons brought into the territory via
tunnels.
It
has tried to counter the flow by digging deep trenches and setting up
other obstacles.
Israeli
snipers early Sunday, October 27, climbed to several rooftops in
Rafah, reported the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).
Eyewitnesses
said that the occupation soldiers had forced the residents of these
homes under gunpoint to cram into one room.
The
occupation soldiers also asked the residents of the Brazil
neighborhood in Rafah to leave their homes.
