CAIRO,
September 9 (IslamOnline) - A number of organizations in Egypt have
produced a 23-minute, 7-language CD which documents the agony of the
Palestinian people under the aggressive Israeli war machine.
The
CD was produced by Safeer, an Egyptian publishing house, under the
patronage of the Arab Lawyers Union, the Palestinian Committee of the
Arab Doctor's Union, the International Center for Studies and the
Egyptian Association for Culture and Dialogue.
The
CD has footage of Israeli crimes against the Palestinians, including the
well known massacres of Sabra and Shatilla, 1982 and Qana 1996. The
voice over is presented in seven languages: English, French, German,
Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Arabic.
In
a joint statement produced by the sponsoring organizations, they called
upon individuals and organizations to take part in letting the message
reach a million western individual.
"We
need to let them know the facts; that Palestine is Arab land; that many
Jews came here from around the world; that they committed crimes against
humanity and threw the Palestinian natives out of their own land with
the help and support of the world's powers," said the statement.
"We
need to let them know that the Israeli war machine targets the entire
Palestinian society, not differentiating between a child, woman, youth
or old man and that it aims at destroying houses, infrastructure, and
ruining farm lands.
"In
doing that Israel breaches all international laws and resolutions as it
kills detainees and hinders ambulances from doing their job. It also
stops media men from covering the events so that the truth does not
reach the world and as a result, many of them have lost their
lives," they added.
In
a conference held at the Journalists’ Syndicate in Cairo, the
participants lauded the production, some mentioning that it needed to
have more facts and figures besides the emotional footage.
Speaking
to IslamOnline, Abdullah Obaid, the director of the Programs department
in Safeer, said that the idea came after Husni Saber, an Arab residing
in Germany sent a letter to the Egyptian Newspaper Al-Ahram in April
suggesting the production of the CD.
Saber
said that he met a German lady who was moved to tears by the scenes of
Israeli victims of a Palestinian martyr bombing. He showed her a CD with
scenes of Israeli atrocities against the Palestinians and her attitude
changed completely. She is now one of the strong supporters of the
Palestinian cause.
Obaid
said that Safeer is planning to contact NGOs and Arab organizations in
the west for the distribution of the CD.
