Afghans: We Are Ready for Jihad Against U.S.

Hundreds of Afghani youths have responded positively to Hekmatyar’s calls for Jihad

By Husbanullah Mutawakel, IOL Afghanistan Correspondent

PESHAWAR, Sept 7 (IslamOnline) - There was a mixed reaction from the Afghani people regarding the message of the chief of the Islamic Party, Ghalab El-Din Hekmatyar that was transmitted by world media on Wednesday, dated September 4, 2002.

In his message, he called his people for Jihad against foreign forces and demanded their immediate and unconditional withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Most Afghani immigrants have unanimously agreed to the necessity of responding positively to Hekmatyar’s call. They met in several camps and shouted anti-U.S. and anti-foreign slogans like “praise be to Islam.....praise be to Jihad” and “Death to U.S. .....death to U.S. agents and supporters”.

Hundreds of Afghani youths called for immediate and complete confrontation of foreign forces and expressed their desire and readiness to fight against the Americans with their blood and money.

Qarei Ata’u Al-Rahman, ex-chairman of “Salafia” organization, said in an address: “Brutal U.S. forces kill innocent Afghans, unjustifiably destroy their dwellings and Washington sends the innocent to the Guantanamo prison camps in Cuba, while claiming it defends human rights.

“The Afghani people should support Hekmetyar, start Jihad against the U.S. forces in Afghanistan and not be deceived by U.S. false promises. You musta ll be sure that the U.S. forces will be defeated in Afghanistan and will meet the same fate the Russian forces met”, he added

Qadhi Mohamed Saber Gameel, an Afghani citizen living in Pakistan, said in a message sent to IslamOnline.net, “Hekmatyar’s call for Jihad has enthused us and reminded us of our great Jihad days against Russian forces when youth convoys went to battlefronts”.

“Hekmatyar’s call for Jihad and resistance has become the word of the day in different mosques, councils and markets. Hundreds of youths, whom I met, had expressed their readiness for Jihad and sacrifice for God’s sake”, he added.

“On behalf of 185 youths, I reassure Hekmetyar that we are ready today to sacrifice ourselves for God’s sake any time and anywhere”.

In a joint message received by IslamOnline.net, Attequ Allah, Qudrat Allah Al-Muhandes Akbar and Atta’u Allah, Afghani citizens living in Peshawar, said, “the youths enthusiastically receive Hekmetyar’s call for Jihad and resistance against U.S. forces and declare their full readiness for it”.

Meanwhile, Haji Fadl Karim, an Afghani citizen, said in a message he sent to the Pakistani Wehda newspaper, “The Afghani people won’t support the call for Jihad made by the suspect, Hekmatyar.” According to him, Hekmatyar has prepared to destroy the Afghani people yet another time.

“It is strange enough that Hekmatyar had obtained two thirds of the aids in yesterday’s Jihad from the U.S., while he is now declaring Jihad against the U.S. itself. If Hekmatyar has actually declared Jihad against the Americans, he should do so through the world media in his own voice,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that Hekmatyar enjoys widespread popularity among the Afghanis, as he led the Jihad against the Russians and presided over the Islamic Party, the largest of all Jihad parties.

Former Afghani premier and head of the Islamic Party Hekmetyar had previously called upon the Pashtun tribes in the Southeastern states of Afghanistan to struggle against the American forces in the country and denied any relationship to Taliban Movement or Al-Qaeda Organization saying, “our only objective is to drive foreign forces out of Afghanistan and grant the Afghani people the right to determine their own future”.

Hekmatyar has transmitted his call through a cassette tape that was distributed to world media on Tuesday, dated September 3, 2002.

Spokesman of the military garrison No. 3 in Gardez told the Islamic News Agency, “Our accurate information says that the head of Al-Qaeda Organization Osama bin Laden, leaders of Taliban Movement and Amir of Islamic Party Hekmatyar in collaboration with some intelligence agencies are trying to form a new coalition in order to destabilize the security situation in Afghanistan”.

Haji explained that “Hekmatyar and Taliban leaders live in tribal areas in Pakistan” and called upon Baktia residents not to obey the calls of Taliban and Hekmatyar, pointing out that they lost their popularity and credibility among the Afghani people.
