Afghan and Pakistani Forces Clash Briefly Over Carpets

Pakistani soldiers on the borders

By Husbanullah Mutawakel, IOL’s Afghanistan Correspondent

PESHAWAR, Sept 7 (IslamOnline) - Two Afghani women were injured when the Afghani and Pakistani forces clashed at the Turkham gateway on the border between the two countries.

Eyewitnesses told IslamOnline on Saturday, September 7 that the clashes took place on Friday evening, September 6, when the Pakistani forces, in the Khaybar area that is located on the border, refused to allow Shah Mohammad, the leader of the Afghani forces on the borders, to enter a truck of Afghani carpets illegally into the Pakistani territories.

They said that this angered the Afghani leaders who then ordered his forces to open fire towards the Pakistani forces as soon as he went back to his trench and a number of RBJ 17” missiles were fired at the Pakistani buildings, damaging a few of it.

The Pakistani forces, the eyewitnesses said, responded to the Afghani forces leading to the injury of two Afghani women.

The exchange of gunfire continued for nearly 35 minutes, which led to the closure of the Turkham gateway stopping travelers from passing through till late at night.
