Dubai Festival Funds Donated To Palestinians

Revenues are for the Palestinian children who suffer from prostrate occupation of their lands

By Reda Hammad, IOL Dubai correspondent

DUBAI, July 28 (IslamOnline) - The official organizing committee for Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2002 has decided to allocate the proceeds of Modhesh Fun City, one of its activities, for the Palestinian children who suffer from prostrate occupation of their lands. The decision came after the recent holocaust by the Israeli occupation army in Gaza, which resulted in killing 17 including 9 children.

“UAE stand is known and constant as it supports the Palestinians in their struggle against occupation forces, and will continue in providing them with all kinds of support, financial or non-financial,” Saeed Al-Nabouda, DSS Chief Marketing Officer, said Friday, July 26.

All the money, which is to be collected from Modhesh fun city during its last five days, will be transferred to H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum’s charity institution, which in turn will transfer them to the relevant parties to pass them on to the Palestinian children, Al-Nabouda said.

“DSS doesn’t only aim at having fun and entertainment, but also at supporting the human issues, no human issues is more important than the Palestinian one, since the Palestinian people and children are encountering savage aggressions from Israeli troops,” Al-Nabouda added.

Dubai Summer Surprises 2002 started in June 2, 2002 and will continue till August 3, 2002, under the slogan of “happy and useful holiday for children.” It will provide 250 different “surprises” organized by the government committees, in order to attract visitors from within and without the country.

The official committees have allocated a budget of 18 million dollar for the entertainment activities that mainly focus on children. Dubai is concerned with arranging these summer surprises to activate the interior tourism and attract families to spend their weekend in it.

UAE has been keen to offer many aids to the Palestinian people since the beginning of the uprising (Intifada).

Moreover, it has been witnessed that the donation campaigns, arranged by many charity institutions since the Israeli invasion to west Bank, were widely accepted in popular and official medium.
