NEW
DELHI, July 20 (IslamOnline) - Following an appeal by the President of
Jamiatul Ulama-e-Hind (JUH), Maulana Syed As'ad Madani, Palestine Day
was observed and celebrated throughout the country and prayers were
offered for the improvement of the lot of poor, oppressed, homeless
and uprooted people of Palestine.
JUH
is a religious-political Muslim mass organization, which has been
associated with the
Congress
Party during the Independence struggle and in the post-Independence
period.
Protest
demonstrations and meetings were organized in various mosques and
places in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam,
Bengal, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh,
Rajasthan, Karnataka, Haryana …etc.
Participants
unanimously condemned the aggressive and expansionist policies of
Israel, and blasted the illegal support and backing by imperialist
powers like USA and UK at whose instance Israel is indulging in its
criminal activities.
Speakers
demanded the United Nations and the international community, including
USA and UK, the supporters and Israel, the usurper, to stop the
expansionist policy of Israel and get all the occupied Palestinian
land vacated at the earliest.
They
also appealed to the United Nations and the international community to
do everything possible for the rehabilitation of the oppressed and
uprooted Palestinians and prepare the grounds for the establishment of
a self-governing and independent state of Palestine.
Earlier,
Maulana As'ad Madani, JUH chief and a former Member of Parliament,
said that the oppression and exploitation of the people and government
of Palestine and cruelty, injustice, barbarism and terrorism of Israel
has reached its climax.
Describing
U.S. as "the world’s biggest terrorist state", he
regretted that the world community has totally failed in doing justice
to the weaker and oppressed nations. He said that the poor and
helpless people of Palestine have been evicted from their houses and
localities and new Israeli settlements are being regularly built on
their lands usurped by Israel.
He
further said that mosques in Israel have been turned into casinos,
taverns and hotels. Many of these have been demolished, sealed or
converted into Israeli places of worship. There are about 1200 such
mosques in Palestinian occupied land.
With
reference to Palestine Day, Maulana Madani said that without justice,
independence and restoration of human rights, peace cannot be
maintained in the Middle East.
