Rabbi Sorry for Israeli Gains from Palestinian Deaths: Report
 |
|
Palestinians have the right to resist Israeli occupation |
LONDON,
July 12 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) – Rabbi Israel Domp
stressed that “real Jews” feel deeply sorry for the fall of
victims from Israeli and Palestinian sides alike. He even went further
to charging that the absence of internationally-recognized Israeli
borders means “the Jewish State does not exist”, according to a
London-based daily newspaper, Friday, July 12, 2002.
Addressing
a symposium in the British House of Lords Thursday, arranged by
Baroness Odeen and attended by several MPs and activists, Domp
expressed “real Jews regret at the gains of Zionists due to
Palestinian bombing operations”, reported al-Sharq al-Awsat Arab
daily.
“Was
the West to receive occupiers with flowers?” wondered Domp. He was
apparently referring to the Palestinian legal resistance to the
Israeli occupation.
The
aging rabbi, one of the leading figures of Orthodox “Neturei Karta”, charged that “Zionism is a passing phenomenon that has
nothing to do with true Judaism”.
“Founders
of Zionism were a bunch of fake Jews. Real Jews work for peace to
prevail wherever they go, not to spread war and hatred like Zionists
do,” Domp said.
For
her part, Baroness Odeen, of Bangladeshi origin, in her inaugural
speech, stressed the need to focus the lights on the Palestinian
tragedy. “This meeting is carried out with a background of events
making our (British) Foreign Policy look funny, and emphasizing the
partiality of our media,” Odeen said.
She
was referring to the British government’s continuous sale of weapons
to Israel, as well as the often pro-Israel British media coverage of
Middle East events, according to the paper.
The
Labor Baroness maintained that work to do Palestinians justice
“should not be limited to Muslims, but also British Christians and
Jews”. She urged the British government “to do something as far as
U.S. decisions for the Middle East is involved”.
Dr.
Azzam al-Tamimy, for his part, shed light on the true facts of the
Palestinian cause, focusing on “the real victim in Palestine”.
After touching upon the historical background of the Israeli
occupation, he concluded with ‘the urgent need to respect the
Palestinians’ right to resist occupation until the liberation of
their land”.
According
to the paper, citing highly-informed sources, there is a great hope of
establishing a society for the friends of Palestine in Britain’s
both Houses of Parliament, Commons and Lords.
