Four U.S. Forces Reportedly Killed in Afghanistan

U.S Forces in Afghanistan

BESHAWAR, Pakistan, May 21 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) – Four U.S. forces were killed and two others injured in an armed attack by an Afghan student in Pakhtia province, South-east Afghanistan, according to unconfirmed reports.

Hafiz al-Quran Nour Gan, 14, from Wazeer Tribe opened Kalashinkov fire, late Monday, May 20, on a U.S. patrol comprising six Jeeps, five motorcycles and a military truck, according to Pakistane News Agency (NNI) and Pakistani daily Mashriq.

Gan attacked the U.S. patrol while passing Takhi village, Permil area, in Pakhtia, bordering Pakistan border. He was killed in the exchange of fire with the Americans.

The area where the attack occurred is close to Pakistani Wazeerstan area where U.S. forces broke into before and searched houses looking for Bin Laden or other al-Qaeda members.

NNI correspondent in Wana City, Wazeerstan, said that Gan carried out the operation in revenge for his tutor Diria Khan, who was killed by U.S. forces on May, 14, 2002. They killed the old man while searching his school in Worma area, Pakhtia, where Gan used to study.

The American forces retaliated by launching intensified air raids on Wazeerstan. There were no reports of Afghan civilian casualties however.

For their part, the Americans have not yet confirmed or denied the report.

Meanwhile, U.S. commandos have captured three persons after founding a Bin Laden picture, while searching the area of Lora Mindy in Khost province, close to the Pakistani borders, reported Pakistan daily newspaper, Wahdat, Tuesday, May 21.

The U.S. troops seized a heavy machine gun, found at a citizen’s house. They told the inhabitants of the area to evacuate their homes, before going ahead with the search operation, according to the Pakistani daily.
