Rights Group Calls on U.S. to Review Middle East Policy

| International Friends of Humanity: The U.S. should stop providing Israel with arms |
VIENNA,
May 20 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - The Vienna-based
“International Friends of Humanity” organization called Monday,
May 20, on the U.S. administration to review its prejudiced Middle
East policies.
The
rights group strongly criticized “the pathetic lack of balance that
the American administration displays in its policies regarding the
bloody events in the Palestinian territories,” Quds Press
International News Agency reported.
A
spokesman for the organization said, “The U.S. administration
insists on maintaining a pro-Israeli bias, and providing the Israeli
occupation army with its destructive and advanced weaponry, with which
the Palestinian peoples in the West Bank and Gaza are exterminated,
and the Palestinian infrastructure as well as civilian homes, schools,
and medical facilities are destroyed.”
The
rights group expressed its shock at the “U.S. providing Israel with
weapons and ammunition. This is a clear violation of international and
human rights laws.”
“This
kind of support by the U.S. makes it a partner in the killings that
Israeli occupation forces carry out in Palestinian cities and refugee
camps.”
The
Friends of Humanity pointed out that “the U.S. providing
humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in the West Bank, and
speeches by U.S. government officials about the plight of the
Palestinians are both moves void of any meaning, as the greatest help
that the U.S. can offer the Palestinians is for it to stop providing
the Israeli army with military aid.”
The
organization’s spokesman referred to the rejection of U.S. aid by
Palestinians in Jenin refugee camp was a “clear message to the U.S.
administration. We call on the U.S. to learn from this incident.”
He
added that the “U.S., with its relationship with Israel and its
position as a superpower, can be a protector of human rights,
especially the right to life and security in the Palestinian
territories. Unfortunately, the U.S. administration has not seriously
intervened in the atrocious war crimes committed by the Israeli army
in its most recent military offensive (Operation Defensive Shield)
against the Palestinian people in the West Bank.”
