CAIRO,
April 20 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - An Egyptian NGO, which
includes businessmen and ambassadors among its members, has decided to
demand the formation of a war criminals tribunal, similar to those held in
former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, against the
Israeli war criminals.
“A
committee of law experts and ambassadors will be formed with the
objective of preparing a complete file supported with evidence of the
war crimes committed by the Israeli government headed by Ariel
Sharon,” said Saturday Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Shaker, head of the
Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.
He
added that this committee would monitor all the deterrent activities,
Israeli massacres, statements of witnesses and foreign correspondents,
in addition to a compiled documentary that includes the horrifying
scenes shown on the Foreign and Arab satellite channels.
International
testimonies that came from European countries and U.S. condemning
Israel and war criminals atrocities will be also included in the Ariel
Sharon black file, Shaker added.
The
council will also launch in the next few days a wide international
campaign aiming at correcting the twisted image given by Israel and
its supporter, the Jewish lobby in the U.S., of the conflict in the
Middle East and of the Israeli aggression against Palestinians.
According
to Shaker, this campaign will also include the organization of an
international conference that will be held in Cairo in May 2000 and
attended by prominent figures, parliament members, peace movements’
activists from different countries including Israel, Arab Knesset
members, and various Jewish prominent figures from Europe and the
U.S., who are against the Israeli government policies and aggression
against the Palestinians.
The
purpose of this conference is to clarify the real picture of what is
taking place in the Palestinian territories and to refute the Israeli
misleading information, shaker said.
He
added that a delegate from the council, which is considered one of the
most important businessmen organizations that have ties with the U.S.,
will visit the United States in order to meet with U.S. officials with
the same goal in their agenda.
