NABLUS,
April 9 (IslamOnline) – Israeli and Palestinian sources in the Jenin
refugee camp in the West Bank confirmed that no less than 20 Israeli
soldiers were killed in fierce clashes between the Israelis and
resistance fighters Tuesday, April 9.
The
Israeli occupation army has been trying to occupy the Jenin refugee
camp for more than a week.
Jamal
Abul Heega, the official spokesman for the Islamic Resistance Movement
Hamas in Jenin, told IslamOnline via phone that the Palestinian
resistance in the Jenin refugee camp successfully laid a mine-trap in
the eastern part of the camp, which the Israeli army entered,
believing it was empty.
The
mine-trap exploded, taking an entire Israeli military unit, made up of
50 soldiers, by surprise, and killed at least 20.
Heega
added that the resistance in the camp was strong, and that it had
taken a decision late Monday, April 8, to reverse tactics from
defensive to offensive. He also pointed out that the resistance had
prepared “surprises” for the Israeli army, in the form of
mine-traps and hand grenades.
Under
attack, the Israeli army asked their commanding officers for a
ceasefire.
