Israel Bombs Palestinian School In Arab East Jerusalem

An Israeli extreme-right underground "vengeance for the children," claimed responsibilty of the School Bombing

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, March 5 (News Agencies) - A bomb exploded Tuesday in the playground of a school in an Arab district of east Jerusalem, wounding four Palestinians, including a Palestinian teacher, Israel public radio said.

Two more unexploded bombs were found on the site in the Tzur Baher district, and a third near a dispensary in the same district, the report said.

The radio said an anonymous caller saying he represented an extreme-right underground Israeli group calling itself "vengeance for the children", claimed responsibility for the attack two minutes later, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.

Moreover, five Israeli tanks penetrated more than a kilometer (nearly a mile) Tuesday, March 5 into the Palestinian district of Jabaliya in the north of the Gaza Strip, sparking clashes in which a Palestinian policeman was wounded, Palestinian security officials said.

"Five tanks and some bulldozers penetrated more than a kilometer east of Jabaliya and exchanges of fire took place in which one Palestinian policeman was wounded," one official said.

Earlier, around 10 Israeli tanks moved into the autonomous Palestinian village of Al-Khader near the West Bank city of Bethlehem, Palestinian security sources said.

Firing was heard in the area although there were no immediate reports of any injuries.

In the southern Gaza Strip, six Palestinian civilians were wounded when Israeli helicopter gunships fired at least seven rockets on a Palestinian security building in Khan Yunis Tuesday, Palestinian security sources said.

The Palestinian police headquarters in Khan Yunis was damaged.

Overnight, the Israeli navy fired a rocket and heavy machine-gun fire on buildings inside Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's compound in Gaza City.

Meanwhile, at least 15 Palestinians were hurt, two seriously, in a powerful explosion in Gaza City which set three buildings ablaze, Palestinian medical and security sources said.

The blast, which was heard all over the city, occurred in a store on the ground floor of a building in the northern Al-Nasser district, the sources added.
