Pakistan complained to Powell about Indian sponsored terrorism,
Report by Aamir Latif
ISLAMABAD, Jan. 22 (IslamOnline)- Pakistan has handed over to the United States "solid documentary proofs" about Indian sponsored terrorism in the country, Indian training camps for terrorists and details about the captured Indian agents in Pakistan.
These proofs were handed over to U.S. Secretary of State, Collin Powel during his recent visit to Pakistan, a senior government official speaking in condition of anonymity told IslamOnline Tuesday, January 22.
"The Secretary of State was briefed in detail about the training camps for terrorists at various places including Indian Punjab and Rajhistan as well as about
terrorist activities of Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in Pakistan", he said.
"Powel was surprised over Indian repeated allegations of cross-border terrorism against Pakistan and on its real face of hatching conspiracies as well
as involvement of terrorist activities in Pakistan for years", the official added.
Regarding Indian counter allegations on Pakistan, he said Pakistan told U.S. Secretary of State that there was no terrorist camps in Pakistan and all the steps were being taken for eradication of terrorism and sectarianism in the
country.
Pakistan had asked Powell to raise the issue with India and report to U.S. government about Indian terrorist activities in Pakistan for the past several years, he said.
Meanwhile, Islamabad says it will ask Delhi to take action against terrorists similar to the list of 20 men whom New Delhi accused of terrorism and organized crimes.
Pakistan’s Musharraf has already made it clear that he will never extradite Pakistani citizens to India but has not ruled out sending back Indian nationals.
Indian Foreign affairs Minister did not say what he would do if any Indian nationals were included on the Pakistani lists.
According to BBC, Pakistan has prepared a list of 80 terrorists allegedly hiding out in India, of which the majority belongs to southern Sindh province of Pakistan.
The list would soon be presented to Indian authorities, it added.
India said Monday, January 21, it would extradite swiftly any Pakistani fugitives hiding out in its territory if Islamabad made such a request.
"Were any list to be provided by Pakistan of any Pakistani criminals sheltering illegally in India...I'll immediately return them to Pakistan," Indian foreign Minister Jaswant Singh told a news conference
