KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - The Islamic Youth Association of Thailand and its ASEAN counterparts have joined a boycott of American and British products in protest of the U.S.-led military strikes on Afghanistan, a report said Tuesday.
Adinun Hasani, a member of the anti-U.S. campaign panel, said the association sought a list of products originating from the U.S. and the United Kingdom, the state-run Iranian news agency IRNA reported Tuesday.
"We will distribute the lists to Muslims in Thailand so that they will not buy them," he was quoted as saying the Thai newspaper The Nation.
"The campaign is to express our objection to the U.S. retaliatory strikes in Afghanistan," Adinun said, IRNA reported.
Shops owned by Muslims nationwide would join in the campaign by not displaying any advertisements for products that originate from these countries, he said.
Adinun insisted that Muslims would not resort to violent measures such as burning advertisements.
Some Indian Muslims have accused the U.S. of killing innocent people under the auspices of a "war on terrorism".
