Mujahideen from Over Islamic World Arrive in Afghanistan

JALALABAD, Oct 13 (IslamOnline) - A large number of volunteer freedom fighters, or
mujahideen, from all over the Islamic world were seen in Afghanistan preparing for the struggle, or
jihad, against an impending U.S. military campaign.
Arab, Caucasian, Uzbek, Pakistani and other mujahideen were seen moving between different Afghan cities in cars carrying weapons and positioning themselves in the trenches of the ruling Taliban on the frontlines facing the Northern Alliance.
Taliban officials claiming to have close contacts to Osama bin Laden's al-Qa'eda organization said that a group of one hundred
mujahideen left Afghanistan last week on a mission to destroy U.S. interests "everywhere in the world".
However, some Afghanis in Kabul denied this information, saying that this is practically impossible in light of the strong blockade that the country is witnessing and the intensive international supervision on those who enter or leave Afghanistan.
This came after U.S. forces bombed Taliban and Arab Afghan positions in the city of Nangarhar, located in the southeast.
Observers claim that U.S. strikes in Nangarhar were primarily aimed at weakening the Taliban and Arab Afghans, especially since Nangarhar is considered Kabul's frontline defense.
"The strikes are also aimed at delivering a message to the residents not to host any of the Arab Afghans or Taliban members so that their fate would not be total destruction on the hands of American forces," observers added.
However, observers claimed that the Taliban realized this strategy and started repositioning
mujahideen - especially Uzbeks and Tajiks - away from Nangarhar.
