Muslim Scholars Call for Intifada Support
LONDON, Aug 22 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - Muslim citizens around the world were invited by 129 leading Muslim scholars to recognize Friday, August 24th, as a day to express their solidarity and support for the Palestinians through demonstrations and strikes in addition to supplicating to Allah and gathering funds for them.
In a statement issued by the scholars, of which copies were sent to news agencies around the world Tuesday, the scholars asked Arab leaders to respond to the wishes of their citizens and "not to deprive them from participating in the war of dignity".
They also asked Muslim leaders to activate the economic boycott with Israel and stop all forms of normalization with the Zionist state.
The scholars ensured that "in return for their continuous sacrifices, the Intifada [uprising] martyrs deserve so much from their Muslim nation since they are the ones struggling on behalf of the entire Muslim world to protect the holy sites from the Zionist enemy."
"Zionists are embarking on policies to manipulate the nation's right for existence and because of that, it is essential that the Muslims everywhere, governments, people and organizations, to realize the critical situation and deal with it seriously," the scholars added.
"The struggle today is tougher than it has ever been because it is the struggle of al-Aqsa against the Zionist illusions, that [are] not limited to Palestine," they added.
The statement also called on Palestinian leaders and organizations to hold onto resistance and preserve national unity, and not slip back into negotiations aimed to quell the Intifada.
The statement continued by saying that Palestinians should know that the only language Zionists understand is that of force, and they have no respect for treaties or accords.
The statement also accused Western countries, which claim they are protecting human rights, are merely watching Israeli atrocities committed daily against Palestinians and creating excuses for Israel.
Meanwhile, Palestinians, under siege in their cities, are enduring Israeli crimes and are defending their lands and holy sites.
The scholars ended their statement by calling on all Muslims around the world to have a dignified stance, which would please their God and their conscious in fear of a day when God will ask them what they have done to vindicate their Palestinian brothers.
