Woman Among Three Palestinians Killed In West Bank
NABLUS, West Bank, March 3 (News Agencies) - A Palestinian woman was shot dead near Ramallah by the Israeli army, while two other Palestinians were killed near Nablus in three separate West Bank incidents Saturday night, hospital and army sources said.
Saturday's three deaths bring to 429 the number of people killed since the Intifada broke out in September, including 353 Palestinians, one German, 13 Israeli Arabs and 62 other Israelis.
Aida Stiha, a 43-year-old mother of three, was walking with her husband in El-Bireh when she was hit in the chest by a machine gun bullet fired from an Israeli army post in the nearby Psagot settlement, witnesses and hospital sources said.
The Israeli army did not confirm the killing, but only said shooting had been exchanged between Psagot and El-Bireh around 7:30 pm (1730 GMT).
In Karuit, near Nablus, Jewish settlers near the Shiloh settlement shot Ahmad Alam, 26, in the head, hospital sources said.
The Israeli army said it shot dead another Palestinian, whose identity was not revealed, near the Palestinian locality of Huwara.
The army said it opened fire on Palestinian stone-throwers, killing one and lightly injuring another.
