U.S. Based Islamic Website Hacked

WASHINGTON, Feb 13 (IslamOnline) - Only a few months after intense cyber battles attacking rival websites initiated after the Palestinian Intifada, or uprising, between pro- and anti-Palestinian hackers, Islamophobe hackers struck again.

This time, a U.S.-based Islamic news and opinion website, iviews.com, was attacked with hackers leaving expletives and anti-Muslim messages on the main page.

Iviews.com administrators state that it is not clear as to who might be behind the attack, and an examination of the message left by the hacker(s) on the site makes it unclear whether there was one or two hacks.

"That lame deface made by v0dka !!!!!," stated the title on the hacked site.

"Soon I will be in amry [sic] and i will join to the war against the islamic eXtremism . I wont [sic] to note that Islamic extremism It's VERY BAD ! I am not talking about lame cyber war i am talking about the realy life...The extremist uses word "jihad" the mean of the word is "Holy War" ,But what the realy point of that war who can answer????? " continued the jumbled message.

The message went on and used expletives, threatening Muslims groups like Hamas, Fatah and Hezbollah. "[expletive] to All [expletive] Islamic eXtremist Groups for killing innocent people for unknown stupid reasons." said the message.

Iviews.com editor Heba Abdalla in a press release said, "This kind of attack is just part and parcel of the work we do at iviews.com.

"When you stand up for what's right and expose the injustices done to Muslims around the world, you can expect that others will try to silence you," Abdalla added.

Iviews.com staff were still working at the moment of this write-up to restore their website and have alerted local and federal law enforcement authorities of the attack.

The press release also urged webmasters of other Islamic websites to take extra precautions to avoid similar attacks.
