JERUSALEM (IslamOnline) - Israeli military leader, Shaoul Mufaz, warned that Hezbollah forces will launch a massive military operation in the near future close to the border between Israel and Lebanon.
Lebanese sources say, "This operation that Mufaz speaks about is merely an Israeli act, and a strategy that Israel is attempting in order to alleviate the pressure on the Israeli military in Palestine.
"The preparation for this attack will begin tomorrow, and is led by Barak's major need to commit any military action that will place him on a pedestal in front of Ariel Sharon," it added.
A conference of Israeli military leaders that took place January 9th, at the Knesset's - the Israeli parliament - Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, confirmed that the Hezbollah and other Islamist organizations were preparing for a massive operation in the near future, even though observers indicate there is no evidence regarding Arab intentions to initiate war against Israel.
Mufaz stated he would not be not surprised if the attacks take place soon.
The Israeli general predicted that Hezbollah forces were also planning to kidnap Israeli soldiers guarding the border.
Mufaz proclaimed that Hezbollah's previous success in kidnapping three Israeli soldiers will "tempt the Hezbollah to continue in their attempts to kidnap even more soldiers."
In related news, Barak is said to be contemplating an attack on Lebanon in hopes of deferring interest from the al-Aqsa Intifada, and raising his own image in front of Sharon, to whom he his behind in opinion polls.
However, Mufaz stated that, "If we return to the information based on accurate intelligence sources in our hands, there lies no evidence that any one particular Arab nation is thinking about waging war against Israel."
He added, "The Arab nations know that it will not be to their advantage to declare war against Israel."
