IslamOnline Visitors State No Israeli Leader Will Bring Peace

WASHINGTON (IslamOnline) – Participants in IslamOnline’s most recent poll asking whether they believed any of the possible Israeli leaders to come out of new elections in February in Israel will be a better prospect for peace state that none of them will accomplish the goal.

At the time of this writing, of the 609 IslamOnline visitors taking part in the poll, an overwhelming 87% (527) believed that it did not matter who becomes the new Israeli prime minister in terms of prospects for peace in Palestine. IslamOnline visitors seem to believe that none of them will bring peace or solve the issue to their satisfaction.

Among IslamOnline visitors who did choose a leader whom they believed would be a better prospect for peace, the leader emerged as Benjamin Netanyahu with 6% (39), followed by Ehud Barak with 4% (22) and Ariel Sharon 3% (21).

Contrary to widespread belief among political analysts that Barak would be better suited to bring about a comprehensive peace to the issue of Palestine, IslamOnline visitors believe that the hawkish Netanyahu with his hardline stance against the cause of the Palestinians, would be a better choice in the peace process.

Surprisingly, Ariel Sharon, the man who caused the rising of the second Intifada, and a man whom the Palestinian Authority says they would not engage with if he were to become in any way involved with the leadership of the Jewish state, received only one vote less than Barak.

The overall feeling among IslamOnline visitors, though, is that no potential Israeli leader will bring an acceptable peace to the Palestinian people.
