Campaign Of Hate Against Islamic Organizations

by Sahar Kassaimah

WASHINGTON (IslamOnline) - In the last three years, Muslim and Arab leaders and organizations have been the targets of a large hatred campaign launched by Zionist extremists, creating a climate of hate against them.

Aslam Abdullah, Chief Editor of the Minaret magazine and Vice Chairman of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), told IslamOnline that as an example of this hatred, the Islamic Center of Southern California was vandalized three times in November.

Another event providing evidence of this campaign was directed at both Maher Hathout, senior advisor to MPAC, and Abdullah; targeted by extremists in December.

"[On] November 28th, they distributed a bulletin on Yahoo, in which they described Muslim and Arab leaders with terrorism and extremism and they used the strongest possible words against them,” stated Abdullah to IslamOnline.

“They called me the Arab Nazi.”

"Two weeks later, our names and addresses were distributed on Yahoo and we received a lot of hate calls," as a result, Abdulalh further commented.

Neveen Salem, Communications Director for the American Muslim Council (AMC) said to IslamOnline, "By circulating their names and addresses, the extremists are putting their [Abdullah and Hathout’s] lives and property in danger.”

“It may result in hate crimes," she added.

Abdullah told IslamOnline that the reason behind the acts might be due to the success that MPAC has achieved in the last several years, especially in presenting and defending the Palestinian issue.

Abdullah speculates that MPAC’s success in presenting a more positive light on the Palestinian issue within the U.S. may have ignited Zionist anger against them.

Observers of the Muslim political in the U.S. state that both Hathout and Abdullah represent moderate voices among the Islamic community, as they have consistently called for peaceful dialogues on issues that divide faiths in the U.S.

The same observers believe that the targeting of Abdullah and Hathout by extremists may be simply caused by the fact that they are vociferous Muslims in America.
