This
is an exciting month! School goes back for those people living
in the Northern Hemisphere and this is a time to start thinking
about education, your life, and what you want to be, in
sha’ Allah.
As
volunteers, we should always be in the ‘reaching out’ mode;
trying to find ways to help others, improve their condition,
give them advice and so much more.
Volunteers
are people who rally around and come up with ideas to find
solutions to problems, who meet challenges head on, and who are
first in the fight against apathy and depression.
In
this spirit, Volunteer Youth Resource Network is holding
three competitions with the aim of reaching out to young people
from many walks of life.
The
first competition is for
people who wish to organize programs and activities in their
locality. They can organize a ‘Fair Day’ with their local
Islamic Center and they can refer to the ideas mentioned in the
article Ok Volunteers! Here’s Your Chance…
The
main themes of the ‘Fair Day’ are (1) The Importance of
Education and
(2)
Wearing Hijab – My Right. My Duty.
Those
who wish to enter this competition should write a report
outlining the aims behind the function, their plan, and how they
implemented their plan. It should also include information about
how they contacted the Islamic center and people, how they got
sponsors and whether or not they achieved their targets. This
information will be put online to help other people who wish to
organize similar events. Entries should be in by September 20,
2004 and sent to Youth_campaign@islamonline.net
The
second competition is for
creative people between the ages of 13 and 25 years who can
design a page to appear on Volunteer Youth Resource Network online.
The theme of this page should be either: (1) The Importance of
Education or (2) Wearing Hijab – My Right. My Duty.
Please
send your entries by September 20, 2004 to youth_campaign@islamonline.net
The
third competition is also for young people between 13 and 25
years who can come up with the best fundraising ideas.
Ideas will be graded by how far people get involved hands on and
are working together for a common cause – not just on how much
money can be made!
Please
submit your entries to youth_campaign@islamonline.net
by September 20, 2004.
Get
thinking! Get working! There’s so much to be done!
