Traditions of Marriage

In Thailand, the Bride Pays for Everything

In Thailand, it is similar to what goes on in Indonesia; the same period of three months is there. However, it is more strange to know that the bride is the one that carries the responsibility of all marriage expenses. She buys the clothes for her groom and herself of course. The bride’s father is responsible for preparing an average bedroom according to the dower the groom pays. Uthman Hussain Salih from Patan says: “ The dowers are not too expensive or skyrocketing. They never exceed the amount of 25thousand Pats making 500 $. I myself paid only 500 Pats making 20 $ because I am the only one in my village memorizing the whole Qur’an. In the wedding night, all neighbors, Muslims and Buddhists are invited to participate and share us our joy.
