German Defence Minister Visits Pakistan
German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, for top-level talks about the military campaign against the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. Jung was due to meet with President Pervez Musharraf. Earlier in India, Jung spoke of the need to step up the campaign to win the hearts and minds of the Afghan civilian population. This comes amid a widespread anger among Afghan people over the continuing rising number of civilians killed by NATO troops.
