Iran Warns on New Sanctions
Iran warned the UN Security Council on Tuesday, June 05, 2007, against slapping more sanctions on Tehran over its nuclear work. The statements were made by Iran's top negotiator Ali Larijani in Berlin. Larijani was holding talks with the German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The talks came two weeks after a negative UN nuclear watchdog report on Iran that could trigger tougher sanctions soon. Larijani also held talks with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, yielding no headway in resolving the stand-off.
