Palestinian Gives Birth at Israeli Checkpoint
A Palestinian woman was forced to deliver her baby at an Israeli checkpoint in the West Bank on Thursday, February 17, 2004, after Israeli soldiers blocked her passage. Nivin was forced to give birth to her baby, Abdullah, at the Qalandia military checkpoint. Her pleas to Israeli soldiers to allow her through were in vain. A nurse at the hospital where Nivin, 25, was taken said: "The baby was brought in a miserable condition, shivering from cold with sputum coming from its mouth."
