US Guards Kill Four Iraqi Detainees
US guards shot dead four detainees and injured six others during a riot at the main US prison at Bucca camp near Umm Qasr, southern Iraq, Tuesday, February 1, 2005. The US command statement said the riot occurred after a routine search for contraband in one of the camp's 10 compounds, and “resulted from both the use of force to control the situation and from violence by other detainees.” In November 2003, US guards killed three detainees at Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison.
