ElBaradei Unchallenged for Third Term as IAEA Head
Mohammad ElBaradei, the chief of the UN International
Atomic Energy Agency, has emerged as the only candidate for a new six-year term in the post despite fierce opposition from Washington. The Bush administration accused ElBaradei, who holds the prestigious post since 1997, of being too soft on both Iran and Iraq. After painstaking attempts, Washington failed to field a candidate to challenge ElBaradei.
