First Pakistani Pilgrims Flight Leaves for Makkah
Pakistani Muslim pilgrims entered the Karachi International airport to board the first flight to leave for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, Wednesday, December 15, 2004, to perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Around 150,0000 pilgrims from Pakistan are expected to leave for the annual Hajj congregation at Makkah. About two million Muslims perform the hajj every year. Saudi authorities have now put regulations on how many can come from each country, so that anyone who wants to perform the Hajj has to apply.
