Five Israelis Killed in Large Explosion in Rafah
Four Israeli soldiers were killed and at least ten others wounded after a large explosion in a tunnel dug by Palestinian resistance fighters near the Rafah border crossing between the southern Gaza Strip and Egypt, Sunday, December 12, 2004. Initial reports suggest that Israelis and Palestinians could be still trapped inside the tunnel. The armed wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack. About 1.5 tons of explosives were used in the explosion.
