Kashmiris Mark Human Rights Day, Protest Abuses
Muslim separatists and activists in Indian Kashmir marked International Human Rights Day on Friday, December 10, 2004, protesting against abuses by Indian troops. Activists from Kashmir’s biggest pro-India party, and more than 100 members of the National Conference party, led by two state lawmakers, marched in the state’s summer capital Srinagar. Women also demonstrated holding pictures of a 12-year-old Kashmiri girl and her mother, who were raped by an Indian army major last month. Police arrested some activists. (NEXT)
