Dutch Mosque Destroyed in New Arson Attack
A small mosque was destroyed by fire in the Dutch village of Helden in the southern part of the Netherlands near the German border on Saturday, November 13, 2004. No one was hurt in what police suspect may have been the latest in a spate of arson attacks against Islamic targets. One arson attack on a Muslim school on November 9 appeared to be retaliation for Van Gogh's killing, allegedly blamed on a suspected Moslem activist on November 2.
