Philippine Train Derails, Killing 12
At least 12 people were killed and about 160 injured when a train derailed in the dark and plunged down a slope in the Philippines early Friday, November 12, 2004. The civil defense office stated that the Philippine National Railways
train, with about 400 people on board, came off the rails at speed in Padre Burgos town, Quezon province, some 150 kilometers southeast of Manila around 2:00 a.m. Four of the five passenger coaches plunged down a 40-foot (12-metre) slope, eyewitnesses said.
